Information Technology Student Technician (Work-Study)

Responsible for providing intermediate level of technology support required by the College community, and assist the Information Technology (IT) department in day-to-day needs throughout the academic year. The Information Technology Student Technician will apply acquired skills and knowledge to troubleshoot technical issues and prioritize calls as determined by IT personnel.

Essential Responsibilities

Duties may include, but are not limited to: Answering calls, technical troubleshooting, filing, typing, data entry, classroom assistance, basic training, and other duties as assigned. The Information Technology Student Technician will:

  • Learn and/or improve upon basic technical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Provide technical support to faculty, staff and students in use of the technology integrated into the classrooms, labs, and learning environments.
  • Ensure technology, in common areas, are functioning as anticipated.
  • Document any issues reported in the IT Help Desk application.
  • Learn to escalate and prioritize calls to proper areas within IT Help Desk.
  • Provide excellent and professional customer service when working with clients.
  • Update and publish the documentation associated with contract and project management for the Information Technology department.
  • Document project goals, time lines, resources and deliverables in both chart and project management applications.
  • Participate in project management meetings and/or trainings as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain a calendar of Information Technology contract renewal dates.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Eligible for Federal work study or Keuka work study award.
  2. A current Keuka College student in the on-campus undergraduate traditional program.
  3. Professional and pleasant demeanor while working with clients.
  4. Employee must sign off on a confidentiality form. Any breach of confidentiality will result in immediate termination.
  5. Technical skills, organizational skills, and customer relations skills are required.
  6. Ability to work with faculty, staff, students as well as the outside public is also required.
  7. Basic computer skills/experience required.

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Weekend and/or evening hours are required.
