Registered Nurse (7934)

Hillside Children's Center is looking to hire an RN to work 16 hours a week with our nursing team in Rochester, NY!

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the evaluation and delivery of quality health care services to children and youth.  The Registered Nurse works to maintain high standards of quality both individually and in concert with the rest of the Hillside Nursing staff.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs assessments on clients with illness, injury, or health related/psychological concerns. Reports any significant finding to the appropriate medical provider and guardian, when appropriate. Carries out the prescribed intervention.
  • Transcribes all information accurately and efficiently and carries out orders for treatment as medically prescribed.
  • Administers medication safely, accurately and per best practice, NYS and agency guidelines. Is attentive in monitoring for any adverse effects.
  • Effectively triages phone calls regarding health related concerns of clients.
  • Supports the other members of the nursing team to assure quality care is delivered in an effective and timely manner.
  • Oversees and supervises care provided by the LPN and other health office staff.
  • Provides assessments, monitoring and care to the youth in the event of a physical restraint. Follows all regulatory requirements for managing restraint.
  • Administers first aid during emergency situations and coordinates patient care until EMS arrives or the youth is transported to an emergency department.
  • Routinely interacts with clients, families and external contacts and represents the agency with professionalism, tact and cultural sensitivity.
  • Maintains accurate documentation and progress notes for medical records and assures that it is completed in a timely manner.
  • Knows and adheres to all applicable safety regulations, including precautions and hazardous material safety rules.
  • Consults and coordinates with treatment team providers such as the MD, NP, and Clinician, as well as others as applicable to assure continuity and quality of care.
  • Assures that the mental health and physical health needs of each child/youth are met in a timely and efficient manner.

Qualifications

Associate’s or Bachelor's degree from an accredited Nursing Program and NYS license as a Registered Nurse required.  Adolescent Psych and/or Pediatric Experience Preferred. Candidates must have a valid New York State Driver's License and must meet agency driving and insurance standards.
