The Supply Chain Department has an opening for a Risk Control Manager This position will be located at our Lancaster Distribution Center in Denver, Pennsylvania.

 
PURPOSE:

The Risk Control Manager is responsible for maintaining a leadership role in the development and implementation of risk control and safety initiatives in the Lancaster Distribution center.   These initiatives are designed to minimize exposure to the expense and potential loss of business associated with employee injury, liability claims, building damage, loss of physical assets or business interruption due to fire or natural disasters, environmental issues, and regulatory compliance issues. Participates with, interacts, and represents the organization when dealing with 3rd party service providers, insurance providers, and regulatory agencies. This position supports other critical functional areas to ensure compliance with established Corporate and business unit policies, practices, programs and procedures, with the goal of maintaining a safe and healthful environment for all associates, vendors, visitors, and customers.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and apply them appropriately.
  • Broad working knowledge of OSHA’s federal, state regulations as well as local safety, health, environmental, and worker's compensation laws and regulations.
  • Identify hazards and analyze risks associated with new and existing facilities and equipment and partner with engineering, management, and employees to develop and implement control measures.
  • Develops, introduces, implements, and monitors adherence to the DC’s safety programs, practices, policies, and procedures that cover a wide range of Company & regulatory agency required activity.
  • Acts as primary interface with groups such as government agencies or insurance companies.
  • Represents the Company's interests as directed and approved through written correspondence with regulatory agencies and by attending regulatory agency proceedings on behalf of the Company.
  • Implements corporate directives related to and including ergonomic observations, hazard assessments, approved practices, data analysis, and metrics analyses.
  • Develops, facilitates, coordinates and monitors safety and compliance training programs. 
  • Responsible for OSHA reporting and recordkeeping.
  • Audit implementation of programs and ensure strategy for sustainable compliance.
  • Able to communicate effectively and establish credibility with employees and management and able to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Trains and supports operations to ensure quality injury and accident investigation techniques are utilized.
  • Identifies and analyzes factors that may create injuries, accidents, accident conditions, or enable multiple accidents and implement control strategies. 
  • Develops, requests and reviews accident statistical reports to focus efforts on injury trends and corrective actions.
  • Communicates risk control and safety issues and objectives to distribution associates.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in program development, incident investigation, root-cause analysis, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Promotes safety awareness, accident prevention and employee involvement in regard to a safe work environment. Ensures employees have an understanding of the safety expectations of the organization. 
  • Works diligently to prevent exposure to future risks, and manages costs associated with workers’ compensation claims that are in progress.
  • Develops, introduces, implements, and monitors programs and practices designed to minimize exposure to risk and the associated expense with workers’ compensation injuries.
  • Works closely with 3rd party worker’s compensation claims administrator interacting on a frequent basis to provide assistance in managing claims.
  • Collaborates with claims administrator to provide claim settlement advice.
  • Manages the employee return-to-work programs, modified duty programs, and medical case management programs through coordination with the claims adjuster, claims oversight manager and Director of Managed Care.
  • Ensure compliance and routinely audit Handling of Hazardous Material compliance to follow DOT regulations.
  • Participate in staff meetings and other emergency action and response teams as necessary.
  • Assume other tasks as assigned.
 
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Four year degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Professional certification, such as GSP, ASP, CSP and/or ARM preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management and provide superior customer service.
  • Broad working knowledge of federal, state, and local safety, health, environmental, and worker's compensation laws and regulations.
  • Position requires strict adherence to health and safety procedures, attention to detail, good work ethic, and a passion for high quality workmanship. 
  • Knowledge of industrial best practices and procedures preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule.
  • Proficient PC skills required.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Excellent organizational and follow up skills.
  • Public speaking to groups of various sizes.
 
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

Some work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.  Some work is performed in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures.

 
  • Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal. The incumbent may walk, climb stairs or stand in the warehouse for long periods of time.
  • Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday.
  • Stooping, bending, twisting, lifting and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.
